Audio Frequency & Waveform Explorer

Hear frequency in the audio range and observe how cycles per second and waveform shape change what you see and hear.

Frequency is the number of complete cycles occurring each second. One cycle per second equals one hertz. Waveform shape changes harmonic content and the character of a tone without changing its fundamental frequency.

Instructional audio: This tool makes frequency easier to experience, but it does not reproduce the complete electromagnetic behavior of a locating signal. Frequencies above the audible range should be studied visually, not converted and mistaken for the actual signal.
